This is a very good read and shines some light that would make some MAC owners not so secure about their OS.

I work with both at work, and I have to say that while both platforms have retard users, there were a HELL of alot more on the Mac side. Like, I'm talking people who don't know the difference between a headphone jack and a usb port. People who don't understand that when an Icon is in their dock, that doesn't mean its installed on their machine. I think its very telling when Steve Jobs says stuff like this:
iPad Keynote in less than 180 Seconds: Incredible, Beautiful, Amazing!
How the hell can you embed vids in this, btw?
Its like his market share is a bunch of 5th graders buying a new toy.
But yeah, on the security issue, we've had people get mac virus' with frequency despite us having anti-virus installed. I think it comes down to user error and clicking on stuff you shouldn't, installing stuff you shouldn't and its definitely on both sides of the aisle. However, when you have a lack of understanding of your "Magical, Perfect, Phenomenal" device, I'd say you are more apt to make those mistakes.

FYI, the IPad is none of the above. It is just 4 Iphones taped together with invisible tape.

I see a lot of mention about browsers over OS, which makes sense, but not a lot of mention of my browser of choice, Chrome. The general air seemed to be FF>IE>Safari, in terms of security. I wonder where Chrome falls into that.

I dunno about security, but in general FF>Safari>IE>Opera in my opinion. FF is the best overall (and the fastest against IE, Safari, and opera according to benchmarks. I think it may also be faster than chrome), though it has way too many memory leaks. I REALLY hate IE, because it is painfully slow whenever I use it no matter what, so I choose safari over that. Also IE has too many things that they have unofficially (meaning W3C has not approved their changes) done with HTML.
I have never used chrome, so I can't say anything about that.

The thing about W3C is that it has never really been official, by any sense of the word. When you design a template, it is probably better not to design it behind 70% of the market base, which is what it was at its creation. It makes things easier for programmers, yeah, but it has help back browser design quite a bit for a lot of people. And honestly, I find FF very slow. Slower than IE, anyway, when I occasionally pop either of them open. The usual argument I get in return about that is 'hacks', but there are just as many available for the Windows XP/Vista OS' to make IE run faster as there are for FF, though admittedly, they aren't as well publicized.

Just so you know, W3C is official (recognized by programmers and governments alike), and they control the standards for HTML, Javascript (really it is called ECMA script), and CSS (NOT CS:S...). Javascript really allows you to do anything you can't do with HTML and CSS, though W3C is always working on upgrades for HTML. The thing is, they won't just add things that you can easily do with Javascript, nor will they add microsoft's crazy ideas of extra tags like IE has.
Also, Firefox IS faster than IE in almost every way, except maybe in terms of startup time. PC Magazine ran some tests on every major browser (before chrome came out) including the firefox 3.0 (or was it 3.5?) beta. Firefox 2.x was slower than safari, but faster than IE. Firefox 3.x was faster than all of them. It also has to do with the fact that on a computer with less memory, FF will go slower due to memory leaks. If you have 3+ gigs of memory, FF will run faster.
