SAPPHIRE Radeon HD 4870 Vapor-X Video Card
GET IT HERE

Sapphire brings the power of graphics supercomputing to enthusiasts with their Vapor-X Radeon HD 4870 card. Built on Sapphire's original Vapor Chamber Technology, this card will bring the benefits of Vapor-X cooling - quieter and more efficient cooling - to a wider range of users. A new distinctive cooler design makes the Vapor-X Series stand out in looks as well as performance.

The Sapphire Vapor-X Radeon HD 4870 card has 2GB of high-performance GDDR5 memory, clocked at 900MHz (3.6Gbps effective) and the GPU core is clocked at 750MHz. Supporting AMD CrossFireX technology, two high-speed connectors on each card allow two or more cards to be used together for enhanced performance when installed in a CrossFireX compatible motherboard.

The Radeon HD 4870 incorporates the latest ATI Avivo HD Technology for enhanced Video display, and features a second generation built-in UVD (Unified Video decoder) for the hardware accelerated decoding of Blu-ray and HD DVD content for VC-1, H.264 and MPEG-2 codecs, considerably reducing CPU load. The cards HDMI connector supports multi-channel audio formats (up to 7.1) and combines audio and video output on a single cable for direct connection to an HDMI ready display. Support for DirectX10.1 ensures the optimal performance and application compatibility with all DirectX10.1 applications and enables stunning 3D graphics and shading effects in the latest DirectX10.1 games.

AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition 3.2GHz Socket AM3 125W Quad-Core Processor
GET IT HERE

Like the superheroes of old, the AMD Phenom II X4 955 streaks out of the night to lay waste to your enemies with four 3.2GHz cores that have dedicated L1 and L2 caches for each , and 6MB of shared L3 cache to handle really heavy loads or large data sets.

Memory transfers get faster than ever. HyperTransport Generation 3.0 mode allows up to 16.0GB/s of bandwidth. Up to 17.1GB/s memory bandwidth for DDR2 and up to 21GB/s memory bandwidth for DDR3 memory controller delivers an amazing total of 37GB/s of processor-to-system bandwidth. This unprecedented bandwidth is needed to feed the data hungry AMD64 with Direct Connect Architecture cores.

You'd think that all of this power would be too hot to handle. Think again. AMD's Cool'n'Quiet 3.0 works with CoolCore Technology to minimize heat while keeping power and efficiency up. Now the cores can shut down unused parts of the processor when not in use. This saves power and helps to reduce the amount of heat generated. This function is built in so there's no need for drivers or BIOS updates.

You might want to consider a good mobo to go with the CPU & Video Card you selected, this is a reasonable choice I think.   :D

Nvidia rocks pretty hard, not gonna lie.  But ATI doesn't seem to have as many glitches with older games and openGL.  Also, since the two graphics companies have married off to Intel and AMD, it makes alot of sense to keep the family together, if you will.
